Meet The Team

Miguel has been volunteering with omegaUp since 2017. He is known by all the students coding communities in Mexico, always traveling to deliver a motivational speeches to the schools that work with omegaUp.

Atenas is passionate about Social Justice and helping underserved communities through education. She has a Masters of Educational Leadership and Administration and has experience in the Mexican Education System.

Before joining Microsoft as a Software Engineer, Sergio honed his problem-solving skills on omegaUp. With a passion for democratizing computer science education in Latin America, he has served in various roles within the board and staff. Now, as CEO, he drives the organization's growth and development, fostering a love for technology among young learners.

Lorena Barrera is a Senior Data Analyst in her daily life, but in her free time she is passionate about supporting initiatives that provide girls with the tools and opportunities to thrive in the STEM environment.

Juan Pablo is part of the omegaUp Engineering Team based in Mexico. He is the main contributor to our GitHub repository and implements most of the features in omegaUp nowadays.

Vanessa has been managing all the cool engineering features in omegaUp.com since 2018. She started the Coder of the Month For Her award given to the best female student in the omegaUp platform.

Hugo has been responsible for the exciting features in omegaUp since 2018, including our internship programs. He currently works as a Software Engineer in Google.

I’m Ana Gaxiola, a Project Manager at omegaUp, where I’m passionate about managing and organizing diverse events. I love utilizing my skills and experience to make a positive impact on others’ lives. Being a part of omegaUp has been incredibly rewarding, teaching me the immense value that hard work, dedication, and teamwork can have on the lives of many young people in Latin America.

Pablo Aguilar is a Staff Software Engineer at Waymo who has been an invaluable member of the omegaUp since the organization's inception. With his extensive technical expertise, he now provides support to omegaUp as a software engineer.

Alejandra is an experienced IT Technician and Administrative Assistant with over 13 years working in a tech company focused on communications (CPaaS). She is excited to join omegaUp and contribute to the inclusion of women in tech. Being part of this transformation is both rewarding and fascinating for her.

Rodrigo Castro is a Computer Science professor at the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana (UAM). Rodrigo is a champion of the use of omegaUp in the classroom and has been coach of competitive coding teams.

Isabella is a passionate Chemical Engineer with a strong dedication to teaching and the development of technological skills. She thrives on helping others and is deeply committed to making a positive impact on the lives of participants in this project. Through her work, Isabella sees a unique opportunity to foster innovation and empower individuals to reach their full potential.

Data Engineer at Replit. He participated in the International Olympiads in Informatics and the ACM-ICPC. Juan is part of the founding team of the Mexican Olympiad in Informatics (OFMI).

Alondra is a former participant in math and informatics olympiads such as the Mexican Math Olympiad (OMM), Mexican Olympiad in Informatics (OMI), Mexican Girls Olymiad in Informatics (OFMI) and European Girls Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI). She is currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science and Engineering and is part of the organizing team of the OFMI.

Francisco Zaragoza is an associate professor at the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana and earned his PhD in Computer Science at the University of Waterloo. He is part of the founding team of the very first coding competition in Mexico in the early 90s.

Eloísa is professor at Faculty of Sciences at Universidad Autónoma de Baja California. She is founder and coordinator of the Mexican Olympiad in Informatics in Baja California (OMIBC). She advocates for gender equity in the tech world actively participating in some communities such as Technolatinas and Women TechMakers. She collaborates with omegaUp as part of the team for the Mexican Girls Olympiad in Informatics (OFMI).

With over 20 years of experience in designing and developing custom software, Ismael has worked with a wide range of tools, programming languages, data storage solutions, and data analysis methods for IT departments in both the public and private sectors. He enjoys continuously expanding his knowledge and skills, actively engaging in software development projects, analyzing and processing data, deriving insights, and reporting findings.

Aida is an Information and Communications Technology engineer. Currently, I'm focusing on front-end development. I'm part of the OFMI team, where I lead the social media area. I take pride in contributing to the inclusion of women in the tech world and I'm to make a positive impact on the lives of each participant through this project.

Carlos has been contributing to the omegaUp engineering department since 2018. Currently working as a Web Developer, he has also mentored for Google Summer of Code (GSoC) at omegaUp for the past three years.

Kenny is responsible for building and maintaining meaningful relationships with our regular individual donors and fostering a positive and cohesive environment for omegaUp volunteers and staff.

I have been employed as a student developer at omegaUp.

a Statistician and a Data Science student who just started venturing into open-source world. I love exploring AI and Machine Learning. Apart from this, I'm also a dancer and a guitarist.

Luis believes in the power of community to create lasting change. For over 15 years, he has worked to make technical knowledge and opportunities accessible to all, fostering collaboration and learning through open-source projects and community-driven initiatives.

I’m a Software Engineering student at the Universidad Tecnológica del Perú (UTP), passionate about blending engineering, science, and creativity to build impactful solutions. I’ve participated in several hackathons and I also have a background in piano and hold a black belt in taekwondo. I’m known for my discipline, adaptability, and love for continuous learning, always seeking to use technology to enhance human creativity and improve everyday life.

Erick is a software engineer at Google with a master’s degree in computer science from CIMAT. He loves working with algorithms and data structures and enjoys creating educational content to help students improve their coding skills. Erick is dedicated to making a positive impact in both tech and education.

Aritra is currently a theoretical computer science student who is also passionate about open-source.

Ahmed Hani is software engineer with a strong foundation in competitive programming and an appreciation for opensource projects. I enjoy working on impactful projects that benefit not only hundreds, but thousands of people.

Software engineer with 14+ years of experience, two-time ICPC World Finalist, and current competitive programmer coach.

José Manuel has been working as a trainer for math and informatics olympiads since 2016. He was thrilled to help since the first moment that the Mexican Girls Olympiad in Informatics (OFMI) was proposed. He also works as a software engineer.

Carlos is a Computer Science engineer specialized in video game development with experience in virtual and augmented reality applications and 3D modeling.

Trabajé tres años en Microsoft como Ingeniero de Software, tiempo en que también fui parte del grupo de danza folklórica Bailadores de Bronce en el estado de Washington. Actualmente contribuyo con OmegaUp como organizador de la OFMI, redactando problemas y dando entrenamientos. Me gusta viajar y conocer nuevos lugares, participar en shows de danza y canto, jugar con mis michis y comer cosas ricas.

Arturo is currently a computer systems engineering student, passionate for competitive programming, so when he saw an oportunity to cooperate with the platform that introduced him to this world he jumped in no second toughts.

I'm a Computer Science student at the National University of Engineering and also a researcher there. Since my senior year of high school, I've participated in competitive programming competitions. Initially, OmegaUp's resources were key to my learning and inspired me to help others grow. In 2024, I led my university's team at the Peru Student Summit with Google. Currently, I'm part of OmegaUp as an Educational Advisor and am excited to contribute in this role.

Luis is originally from Veracruz, México and has been designing the omegaUp image since 2019. Luis Gilberto is responsible for most of our cool logos, badges and icons for coding competitions.

Anas is a passionate software developer who enjoys building impactful tools that help others learn and grow. He actively contributes to omegaUp and helps in expanding access to computer science education and supports initiatives that empower students and communities through technology. He values collaboration, learning, and making a positive difference through open-source and technology.

Software engineer at Microsoft with a background in competitive programming and a passion for teaching and mentoring. I am actively involved in open source, with a focus on building and contributing to meaningful projects.

Technical Solutions Developer for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with prior experience as a support engineer for Microsoft Azure. Passionate about data analysis, ETL, and cloud platforms. Graduated in Systems Engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico Superior de Acayucan.

I'm a student at the Instituto Tecnológico Superior del Sur de Guanajuato (ITSUR). Although I don't have formal work experience yet, I've been actively involved in competitive programming, which has helped me strengthen my logic and problem-solving skills. I enjoy continuously developing my abilities and staying physically active.
